Here you will find photos we have taken of spiral galaxy M101, located 21 million light years from Earth. On May 19,2023 a super nova (star explposion) was detected in one of the spiral arms. This means the supernova occured 21 million years ago. Over the next several weeks it grew in brightness. Here you can see an image taken on May 13, 2023, six days before the discovery, and several taken in the following weeks. New photos will be added as the super nova develops.
